Bupa in the community

Bupa aims to meet, and where possible, exceed the British Business in the Community benchmark of contributing at least one percent of pre-tax profits to charity.

To contribute more actively to medical advances, the group established the Bupa Foundation in 1979.

Bupa Foundation

The Bupa Foundation is an independent medical research charity that funds medical research to prevent, relieve and cure sickness and ill health. The Foundation aims to produce long-term benefits that have the potential to improve the health of people.

The Bupa Foundation has donated around £21 million to medical research and healthcare initiatives across a range of disciplines from medicine to surgery to occupational health. The Foundation donates around £2.5 million every year through its medical research grants, grants for medical research on a specialist theme and its annual Foundation awards.

The theme for research projects for 2007 is around health service research, focusing on changing behaviour in health professionals to achieve improvement in healthcare.
