Direct Billing Provider Network

With our network of 1.6 million Direct Billing Providers in China and around the world, you can present your insurance card to the benefits provider when you arrive. They will then contact us directly and we will settle the payment within your coverage.

How to Claim

Whether you choose 'direct payment' or 'pay and claim', we provide a quick and easy claims process. For some benefits, pre-authorisation is required by Bupa to help verify your plan guide, or a call can be made to our customer service team. This is a summary of the process of how claims will be paid.

Direct Payment

We pay your benefits provider directly.

  • Step1

    You go to the benefits provider for treatment.

  • Step2

    Your benefits provider contacts us directly. We send your benefits provider a pre-authorisation statement. A copy will also be sent to you on request.

  • Step3

    The benefits provider will ask you to sign the pre-authorisation statement when you arrive for treatment.

  • Step4

    We pay your benefits provider in line with the 'Table of benefits', 'General Exclusions', and 'Terms and Conditions' of your plan.
    If a co-insurance* or deductible applies to any part of your claim, you will need to pay this to the benefits provider. We will reimburse the claim to the benefits provider minus the shortfall you have already paid.
    If the claim includes uncovered treatment, we will inform you and benefits provider when we settle the payment. You need to pay the outstanding amount to benefits provider.

Pay and Claim

You pay your benefits provider yourself and submit the claim.

  • Step1

    You can contact us by phone or email to request a claim form. You go to the benefits provider for treatment and pay for your treatment.

  • Step2

    Your medical practitioner should complete the medical information section on the claims form.

  • Step3

    You should complete all other sections, attach the original and fully itemised invoices (Fa Piao), and submit your claim by post to this address:

  • Step4

    We pay you for eligible treatment in line with the 'Table of benefits', 'General Exclusions' and 'Terms and Conditions' of your plan.
    If a co-insurance* or deductible applies to any part of your claim, you will be reimbursed, minus the value of the co-insurance or remaining deductible amount.

*Co-insurance will not apply when receiving treatment in a public hospital in Mainland China.
